Execution Is Collapsing

What a 90-minute website rebuild reveals about AI and the future of work.

Dr. Matthias Röder · · 5 min read

A few days ago I rebuilt our website in about 90 minutes using AI.

Not a landing page. The entire site. Structure, copy, layout, images, and publishing.

The experience was striking. Not because the website itself is extraordinary, but because it revealed something much bigger about how work is changing.

The Old Model

Traditionally, rebuilding a company website looks something like this:

  1. Define the scope
  2. Hire an agency or internal team
  3. Design the structure
  4. Write the copy
  5. Develop the site
  6. Review, revise, and launch

Even for a relatively simple site this process typically takes weeks or months and involves multiple specialists. Designers. Developers. Copywriters. Project managers. And significant budget.

The New Model

Now imagine the same task with AI integrated into the workflow.

Instead of coordinating multiple specialists, a single person can orchestrate a set of AI tools to:

  • generate site structure
  • write and refine copy
  • design layouts
  • create images
  • iterate instantly
  • publish

What used to take weeks can now happen in hours.

The bottleneck is no longer execution. It is clarity of thinking.

AI is collapsing the cost of execution across many knowledge workflows. When execution becomes cheap, the advantage shifts to organizations that can think, decide, and experiment faster.

The Collapse of Execution

For decades, organizations were limited by execution. Turning an idea into something real required time, coordination, and specialized labor.

AI changes this equation.

Writing, research, design, coding, analysis: much of this is now partially automatable. As a result, the cost and time required to execute many tasks is collapsing.

We are entering an era where execution is no longer the main constraint.

The new constraint becomes clarity of thinking and speed of decision-making.

The Rise of the AI Orchestrator

In many fields the role of professionals is beginning to shift. Instead of producing everything themselves, they increasingly orchestrate intelligent tools that assist with the work.

This changes the nature of expertise. The most valuable professionals will not be those who can execute every task manually. They will be those who can:

  • frame problems clearly
  • guide AI systems effectively
  • evaluate results critically
  • integrate outputs into decisions

The Leadership Question

The important question is not whether AI can build websites.

The important question is:

Which of our internal workflows still look like the old website process? Where are we still spending weeks coordinating work that could be done in hours? And if those processes change, how should we redesign how our teams operate?

Many executives currently ask how AI will affect jobs. A better question:

How will AI affect the speed at which our organization can think and act?

A Simple Thought Experiment

Imagine an organization where 20 internal workflows collapse from two weeks of work to two hours.

The impact would not only be lower cost. The real impact would be speed.

Projects could start immediately. Ideas could be tested quickly. Learning cycles would accelerate.

Organizations that can experiment faster will adapt faster. And in the age of AI, adaptation speed becomes the real competitive advantage.

Where Could This Happen in Your Organization?

Most leadership teams have not yet looked at which of their internal workflows could collapse in this way.

At The Mindshift we work with executive teams to identify where AI could accelerate work inside their organization.

In a short diagnostic workshop we typically:

  • identify workflows most exposed to AI acceleration
  • estimate potential time compression
  • design the first safe experiments to test these opportunities

In many organizations we discover dozens of processes that could be redesigned.

If you are curious where these opportunities might exist in your organization, we would be glad to explore this with you.
